RESUMO

Twenty-nine patients with HCV infection (HCV+) and mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC+) were retrospectively selected and matched for age and sex with 31 HCV+ MC- patients. Biomarkers of cholestasis (direct bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase), HCV-RNA and genotype, and plasma cryoprecipitates were measured before and after virus eradication; liver histology and plasma cells (aggregation and distribution), observed blinded by two pathologists, were analyzed. Sixty participants (mean age: 56.5; range: 35-77, males: 50%) with HCV infection were enrolled. Cholestasis (≥2 pathologically increased cholestasis biomarkers) was significantly higher in the MC group (p = 0.02) and correlated with cryoglobulinemia (OR 6.52; p = 0.02). At liver histological assessment, plasma cells were significantly increased in the MC+ group (p = 0.004) and tended to form aggregates more than the control group (p = 0.05). At multivariate analysis with MC, age, HCV-RNA, HBV diabetes, and cirrhosis, cholestasis was only significantly correlated to MC (OR 8.30; p < 0.05). In 25% patients, MC persisted after virus eradication with new antiviral treatment. Our study identified for the first time an association between MC, cholestasis, and an increased number of intrahepatic plasma cells in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients before virus eradication. Future studies are required to understand how MC contributes to liver damage and how its persistence affects the patients' follow-up after antiviral therapies.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is characterized by a progressive decline in lung function, which may be further impaired by viral infections. CF is therefore considered a comorbidity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and SARS-CoV-2 vaccine prioritization has been proposed for patients with (pw)CF. Poor outcomes have been reported in lung transplant recipients (LTR) after SARS-CoV-2 infections. LTR have also displayed poor immunization against SARS-CoV-2 after mRNA-based BNT162b2 vaccination, especially in those undergoing immunosuppressive treatment, mostly those receiving mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) therapy. We aimed to determine here the immunogenicity and safety of the BNT162b2 vaccine in our cohort of 260 pwCF, including 18 LTR. Serum levels of neutralizing anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG and IgA antibodies were quantified after the administration of two doses. PwCF displayed a vaccine-induced IgG and IgA antiviral response comparable with that seen in the general population. We also observed that the immunogenicity of the BNT162b2 vaccine was significantly impaired in the LTR subcohort, especially in patients undergoing MMF therapy. The BNT162b2 vaccine also caused minor adverse events as in the general population, mostly after administration of the second dose. Overall, our results justify the use of the BNT162b2 vaccine in pwCF and highlight the importance of a longitudinal assessment of the anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG and IgA neutralizing antibody response to COVID-19 vaccination.

Iron (Fe) status among healthy male and female blood donors, aged 18-65 years, is estimated. General characteristics and lifestyle factors, dietary habits and major one-carbon metabolism-related polymorphisms were also investigated. An explorative cross-sectional study design was used to examine a sample of blood donors attending the Transfusion Medicine Unit of the Verona University Hospital, Italy. From April 2016 to May 2018, 499 subjects were enrolled (255 men, 244 women, 155 of whom of childbearing age). Major clinical characteristics including lifestyle, dietary habits and Fe status were analysed. The MTHFR 677C > T, cSHMT 1420C > T, DHFR 19bp ins/del and RFC1 80G > A polymorphisms were also assayed. Mean plasma concentrations of Fe and ferritin were 16·6 µmol/l (95 % CI 16·0, 17·2) and 33·8 µg/l (95 % CI 31·5, 36·2), respectively. Adequate plasma Fe concentrations (> 10·74 µmol/l) were detected in 84·3 % and adequate ferritin concentrations (20-200 µg/l) was found in 72·5 % of the whole cohort. Among the folate-related polymorphisms analysed, carriers of the DHFR 19bp del/del mutant allele showed lower ferritin concentration when compared with DHFR 19bp ins/del genotypes. In a sample of Italian healthy blood donors, adequate plasma concentrations of Fe and ferritin were reached in a large proportion of subjects. The relationship of Fe status with lifestyle factors and folate-related polymorphisms requires more investigation to clarify further gene-nutrient interactions between folate and Fe metabolism.

An imbalance of TNF signalling in the inflammatory milieu generated by meningeal immune cell infiltrates in the subarachnoid space in multiple sclerosis (MS), and its animal model may lead to increased cortical pathology. In order to explore whether this feature may be present from the early stages of MS and may be associated with the clinical outcome, the protein levels of TNF, sTNF-R1 and sTNF-R2 were assayed in CSF collected from 122 treatment-naïve MS patients and 36 subjects with other neurological conditions at diagnosis. Potential correlations with other CSF cytokines/chemokines and with clinical and imaging parameters at diagnosis (T0) and after 2 years of follow-up (T24) were evaluated. Significantly increased levels of TNF (fold change: 7.739; p < 0.001), sTNF-R1 (fold change: 1.693; p < 0.001) and sTNF-R2 (fold change: 2.189; p < 0.001) were detected in CSF of MS patients compared to the control group at T0. Increased TNF levels in CSF were significantly (p < 0.01) associated with increased EDSS change (r = 0.43), relapses (r = 0.48) and the appearance of white matter lesions (r = 0.49). CSF levels of TNFR1 were associated with cortical lesion volume (r = 0.41) at T0, as well as with new cortical lesions (r = 0.56), whilst no correlation could be found between TNFR2 levels in CSF and clinical or MRI features. Combined correlation and pathway analysis (ingenuity) of the CSF protein pattern associated with TNF expression (encompassing elevated levels of BAFF, IFN-γ, IL-1ß, IL-10, IL-8, IL-16, CCL21, haptoglobin and fibrinogen) showed a particular relationship to the interaction between innate and adaptive immune response. The CSF sTNF-R1-associated pattern (encompassing high levels of CXCL13, TWEAK, LIGHT, IL-35, osteopontin, pentraxin-3, sCD163 and chitinase-3-L1) was mainly related to altered T cell and B cell signalling. Finally, the CSF TNFR2-associated pattern (encompassing high CSF levels of IFN-ß, IFN-λ2, sIL-6Rα) was linked to Th cell differentiation and regulatory cytokine signalling. In conclusion, dysregulation of TNF and TNF-R1/2 pathways associates with specific clinical/MRI profiles and can be identified at a very early stage in MS patients, at the time of diagnosis, contributing to the prediction of the disease outcome.

BACKGROUND: Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is frequently increased in inflammatory disorders, and the magnitude of its elevation correlates with disease severity. This study was hence aimed to explore RDW values in patients with psoriasis. METHODS: The study population consisted of 366 adult patients with mild to severe plaque psoriasis and 366 age- and sex-matched blood donor controls. For each psoriatic patient, demographic, clinical, and laboratory data were regularly collected. RESULTS: RDW and MCV were significantly higher in psoriatic patients compared to controls (13.95 vs. 13.40% and 90.4 vs. 89 fL; both p<0.01). In order to assess whether RDW elevations were related to psoriasis severity, we divided our psoriatic patient population into two groups based on a PASI cut-off of 10. No significant differences were observed between the two groups (i.e., PASI>10 and 10) in terms of RDW (p=0.36). Adopting different PASI cut-offs (i.e. 3, 5, 7, 12) did not result in statistically significant differences (p=0.93, 0.48, 0.22, 0.42, respectively). In linear regression analysis, no significant correlation was found between RDW and PASI or CRP, nor with age, gender, or the psoriasis comorbidities listed in Table I. Furthermore, no significant difference in RDW values was noted between psoriatic patients with and without PsA (p=0.27). CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study confirm that RDW is elevated in psoriatic patients, though the magnitude of its increase did not appear to be associated with disease severity.

To investigate the diagnostic performance of relative telomere length (RTL) in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) for endometrioid endometrial cancer (EC). We measured RTL in cfDNA of 40 EC patients (65 ± 12 years) and 31 healthy controls (HC) (63 ± 13 years), excluding in both groups other oncologic and severe non-oncologic diseases to limit confounders. Circulating cfDNA was extracted from serum using the QIAamp DNA Blood Mini kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany). After the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, telomere repeat copy number to single-gene copy number ratio was calculated. RTL in cfDNA was found to be significantly lower in EC patients than in HC (p < 0.0001). The diagnostic performance of cfDNA RTL was estimated with receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis, which showed a diagnostic accuracy for EC of 0.87 (95% CI: 0.79-0.95, p < 0.0001). The cutoff cfDNA RTL value of 2.505 (T/S copy ratio) reported a sensitivity of 80.0% (95% CI: 64.35-90.95) and a specificity of 80.65% (95% CI: 62.53-92.55). Significant differences of RTL among EC stages or grades (p = 0.85 and p = 0.89, respectively) were not observed. Our results suggest that cfDNA RTL analysis may be a diagnostic tool for EC detection since the early stage, whilst its diagnostic performance seems unsatisfactory for cancer progression, staging, and grading. However, further studies are needed to confirm these preliminary findings. In particular, future investigations should focus on high-risk patients (such as those with atypical endometrial hyperplasia) that may benefit from this tool, because TL shortening is not specific for EC and is influenced by other oncologic and non-oncologic diseases.

Background Analysis of plasma metanephrine (MN) and normetanephrine (NMN) with liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is the gold standard for the screening of pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs). As scarce information is available on the stability of MNs in diagnostic samples, this study was aimed at analyzing the short-term stability of plasma free MNs in whole blood and plasma, using LC-MS/MS. Methods The stability of plasma MNs was evaluated after sample collection at 1, 2 and 3 h in whole blood, and at 2, 4 and 6 h in centrifuged samples. Both studies were performed while maintaining the samples at room temperature (RT) and at 4 °C. The ClinMass Complete Kit (Recipe, Munchen, Germany) was used for measuring MNs with LC-MS/MS (Nexera X2 UHPLC-4500MD Sciex). Differences from the baseline (T0) were assessed using repeated measures one-way ANOVA, Students' paired t-test and a comparison of the mean percentage changes with the total change limit (TCL). Results Statistically significant differences from T0 were found for both MNs (p < 0.001) in whole blood stored at RT, and for NMN (p = 0.028) but not MN (p = 0.220) at 4 °C. The mean difference exceeded the TCL after 1 h and 3 h at RT for MN, and after 1 h at RT for NMN. Statistically significant differences from T0 were only observed in the plasma samples for NMN at RT (p = 0.012), but the variation was within the TCL. Conclusions MN and NMN displayed different patterns of stability before and after centrifugation. Even short-time storage at RT in whole blood should hence be avoided.

According to recent statistics, colorectal cancer (CRC) is a frequent disease, the second most frequent malignancy in women and the third most common malignant disease in men, respectively. Although reinforced emphasis on CRC screening by means of immunochemical fecal occult blood test, colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy has contributed to decrease cancer-related deaths, alternative diagnostic tests would be needed for establishing earlier and more potentially effective treatments. Innovative diagnostic techniques have recently emerged, some of which hold promises for screening and/or early CRC detection. Recent evidence suggests that the so-called "liquid biopsy", conventionally defined as detection and quantification of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cancer-related nucleic acids in peripheral blood, may allow earlier diagnosis of CRC combined with lower invasiveness and less patient inconvenience, higher throughput, faster turnaround time, inferior usage of healthcare resources and relatively low cost. Encouraging data have emerged from trials based on CTCs detection, though the sensitivity of the current diagnostic techniques is still perhaps insufficient for enabling early CRC diagnosis. Among the various biomarkers that can be detected with liquid biopsy, SEPT9 methylation displays good diagnostic performance and relatively high cancer detection rate (between 57-64% in patients with CRC stages 0-I), which would make this test a promising tool for population screening, alone or in combination with other conventional diagnostic investigations. Encouraging evidence has also been recently published for BCAT1/IKZF1 methylation. Regarding microRNA (miRNAs), the available evidence highlights that the combination of some of these biomarkers rather than the assessment of a single miRNA alone would enable efficient identification of early CRCs, though widespread clinical application is still challenged by a number of preanalytical, analytical and clinical issues.

Cocoa is a rich source bioactive compounds, i.e., flavan-3-ols, and its consumption has been associated with several beneficial effects, such as the positive modulation of the hemostasis targeted by the platelet function. However, these phenolic compounds have a very low bioavailability and extensively undergo phase I and II metabolism, with the appearing into the bloodstream of (epi)catechin conjugates and phenyl-γ-valerolactones and their conjugates, at different times.The aims of this study were to explore the effect of dark chocolate on platelet function and to investigate the relationship between this interplay and flavan-3-ol derived metabolites.Eighteen healthy male volunteers ingested 50 g of 90% cocoa chocolate within 5 minutes. Blood samples were collected immediately before chocolate ingestion (T0) and 4 hours afterwards (T1). Platelet function analyzer (PFA)-100 closure time was assessed using collagen/adenosine-5'-diphosphate (COL/ADP) and collagen/epinephrine (COL/EPI) cartridges. Plasma flavan-3-ol metabolites were identified and quantified by means of liquid chromatography coupled to a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (UHPLC-ESI-MS/MS).Results evidenced a significant increase of COL/ADP-induced PFA-100 closure time, but not COL/EPI, 4 hours after ingestion of dark chocolate. Total plasma structurally-related (epi)catechin metabolite (SREM) concentration significantly increased at T1, together with 4 out of the 6 detected metabolites. Total phenyl-γ-valerolactone concentrations remained unchanged. Spearman correlations evidenced a strong correlation between COL/ADP closure time and SREMs, mainly led by (epi)catechin-sulfate isomers.These data confirm that the potential beneficial effect of dark chocolate on primary hemostasis may be mediated by flavan-3-ol circulating metabolites.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is rare but highly malignant tumour. The diagnosis is difficult due to its silent clinical character and the inefficiency of currently available diagnostic markers. An enhanced understanding of the molecular pathways involved in CCA carcinogenesis would herald targeted, individualized therapies, as well as new early diagnostic tool with improvement of patient survival. Recently, two mucin proteins, MUC4 and MUC5 have gained interest for their involvement in tumour growth and progression and possible use as diagnostic and prognostic cancer biomarkers. Moreover, a number of studies have demonstrated an association between biliary or serum bile acids (BAs) and some forms of cancers including CCA. More importantly, BAs have been shown to participate in tumour progression by inducing alterations in the expression of oncogenic mucins. This review summarizes the most important findings regarding the possible use of mucin glycoproteins and BAs in the diagnosis and prognostication of CCA and discuss evidences suggesting a role of BAs in regulating the expression of transmembrane and secreted mucins.

Adverse cardiovascular effects, including hypertension, were described in patients with different cancers treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI). The mechanism of TKI-related hypertension is still debated. The aim of this work was to study the effects of TKI on blood pressure (BP), searching for a relationship with possible causative factors in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. We included 29 patients in a prospective, observational study; 22 were treated with a first-line drug (sunitinib), while seven participated in the second-line treatment (axitinib or cabozantinib). Patients were investigated at the beginning of antiangiogenic therapy (T0) and at one (T1), three (T2), and six months (T3) after treatment. Patients were evaluated by office blood pressure (BP) and ultrasonography to measure flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), and carotid artery distensibility (cDC) by echocardiography and nailfold capillaroscopy. Plasma endothelin-1 (p-ET-1), urine nitrates, and proteins were also measured. At T1, systolic BP, along with U proteins and p-ET-1, increased significantly. In patients with a clinically significant increase in BP (defined as either the need for an antihypertensive drug or systolic blood pressure (SBP) T1⁻T0 ≥10 and/or SBP ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) T1⁻T0 ≥5 and/or DBP ≥90 mmHg), the urine nitrate concentration was lower at T0, whereas there were no differences in the p-ET-1 and U proteins. Seventeen participants showed changes in the capillaroscopic pattern at T1 with no association with BP increases. There were no differences in the FMD, cDC, and echocardiographic parameters. Our findings are consistent with those of previous studies about BP increases by TKI, and suggest a role of nitric oxide in BP maintenance in this population.

BACKGROUND: The non-invasive diagnostic approach for early detection of endometrial cancer (EC) remains limited. To date, human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) has been intensively studied but its diagnostic is controversial in EC. DJ-1 is an oncoprotein secreted by cancer cells, recently identified as a potential diagnostic biomarker for breast cancer, melanoma, and pancreatic cancer. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic performances of DJ-1 and HE4 measured in EC patients and healthy controls (HC). METHODS: Forty-five patients (63.9±12.0 years) with EC and 29 (63.2±13.3 years) HC were enrolled. Serum concentrations of DJ-1 and HE4 were measured using ELISA kits developed by R&D (Minneapolis, USA) and Fujirebio Diagnostic (Malvern, PA, USA), respectively. Differences between EC patients and HC were assessed by Mann-Whitney test and associations were tested by Spearman's correlation. The diagnostic performance was assessed using receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves analysis. RESULTS: Serum DJ-1 concentrations were found to be higher in EC patients than in HC (9533.6 vs 1988.5 pg/mL; P<.0001). The area under the ROC curve (ROC-AUC) was 0.95 (P<.0001). At the cut-off of 3654 pg/mL, the sensitivity and specificity were 0.89 and 0.90, respectively. HE4 serum levels were higher in EC patients than in HC (75.3 vs 56.2 pmol/L; P=.019), with an AUC of 0.66 (P=.020). The AUC obtained by the combination of the two markers resulted 0.96 (P<.0001). CONCLUSION: These results suggest that increased serum DJ-1 levels are associated with EC and that this biomarker may be potentially useful for diagnosing EC.

BACKGROUND: Endometrial cancer (EC) is currently considered the fourth most frequent female cancer in Europe. In an attempt to achieve an early diagnosis, many studies have identified some putative biomarkers for gynecologic cancers, including circulating microRNAs (miRs) and aberrant promoter methylation status. Previous studies which have investigated miR-203 expression profiles in EC tissues and normal endometrial tissues concluded that miR-203 is regulated by methylation promoter. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of miR-203 and promoter methylation levels in serum of EC patients and healthy controls (HC). METHODS: Forty-five EC patients (64 ± 12 years) and 30 HC (63 ± 13 years) were enrolled before undergoing therapeutic procedures. RNA extraction from serum was performed with mirVana PARIS Isolation Kit (Thermo Scientific). miR expression was assessed by quantitative RT-PCR (Applied Biosystems). The expression levels of miR were normalized to miR-16 and calculated using the 2-ΔCt method. A quantitative methylation-specific PCR (MSP) technique was used to analyze miR-203 promoter methylation status. Differences between groups were assessed by Mann-Whitney test (for continuous variables) and chi-squared test (for categorical variables), whereas the correlation was calculated using Spearman's test. The diagnostic performance of miR-203 was defined using receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS: Serum expression levels of miR-203 were higher in EC patients compared to HC (p = 0.002). Aberrant miR-203 methylation was detected in 11/45 (24.4%) EC patients and in 2/30 (6.6%) HC (p = 0.046). The expression levels of miR-203 were not significantly correlated with promoter methylation status. The area under the curve of miR-203 expression was 0.71 (p = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS: The high circulating miR-203 expression levels in EC patients compared to HC confirm the role of this miR as a potential biomarker for diagnosis of EC. Aberrant miR-203 methylation assessed in the peripheral blood does not apparently reflect cancer biology.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The possible effect of caffeine as an enhancer of cognitive performance, particularly that on abstract reasoning, has never been studied in an epidemiological setting, especially in relation to -163C>A polymorphism of CYP1A2 gene, largely controlling caffeine metabolism. Aim of this study was to ascertain whether in general population free chronic caffeine intake modifies abstract reasoning, and if this effect is influenced by the above mentioned genotype, by age, schooling, ethanol intake and smoking habits. METHODS: We studied 1374 unselected men and women aged 51 ± 15 years (range 18-89) from a general population. Daily caffeine intake deriving from coffee, tea, chocolate or cola was calculated from an anamnestic questionnaire and from a 7-day dietary diary. Abstract reasoning was measured in the frame of a neuropsychological assessment as the ability to find a concept linking two words indicating objects or actions and explaining how they were connected. RESULTS: In age-schooling-adjusted linear regression, the higher the caffeine intake, the better the abstraction score. Abstract reasoning depended on caffeine in the -163C>A CC homozygous only (so-called slow metabolizers), where it was higher in the 3rd tertile of caffeine intake. Age and ethanol reduced while smoking and schooling enhanced this association. The interaction term between caffeine and the -163C>A polymorphism was accepted in linear regressions. Caffeine consumption resulted innocuous for the A-carriers (so-called fast metabolizers). CONCLUSIONS: In general population, a positive association between caffeine intake and abstract reasoning exists in the CC homozygous of the -163C>A polymorphism of CYP1A2 gene.

BACKGROUND: This study was aimed to investigate the acute effect of medium-distance running on bile acids concentration and composition, in order to verify whether the positive impact of physical exercise on cancer risk may also be mediated by variation of bile acids concentration and composition in serum. METHODS: The concentration and composition of serum bile acids was analyzed in 30 middle-aged and healthy recreational athletes with a reference liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry technique, immediately before and shortly after the end of the running trial. The concentration of bile acids after the run was adjusted for plasma volume change. RESULTS: All athletes successfully completed the trial. After correction of values for the individual plasma volume change calculated after the run, the serum concentration of total bile acids was found to be significantly reduced by approximately 46%. A statistically significant decrease was observed for cholic, deoxycholic, chenodeoxycholic, ursodeoxycholic, glycoursodeoxycholic and hyodeoxycholic acids, whereas the concentration of the remaining compounds remained unvaried after the run. A considerable variation of bile acids profile was also observed. No significant association was found between running performance and variation of bile acids concentrations. CONCLUSION: These results show that middle distance running acutely decreases the concentration of total bile acids in serum, especially that of the more mutagenic and carcinogenic compounds, so providing an intriguing support to the favorable effects of physical exercise for lowering the risk of many gastrointestinal cancers.

Venous thromboembolism, usually entailing deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or both, is a complex and multifactorial disorder, in which a number of putative conditions interplay and finally contribute to propel the individual risk over a certain degree, so ultimately culminating in the development of venous occlusive disorders. Thrombophilia is commonly defined as a propensity to develop venous thromboembolism on the basis of an underlying hypercoagulable state attributable to inherited or acquired disorders of blood coagulation or fibrinolysis. The thrombophilic conditions are conventionally classified as inherited (or genetically determined) and acquired. The former include deficiencies of natural anticoagulants such as antithrombin, protein C, protein S, increased values of clotting factors (especially factor VIII), as well as prothrombotic polymorphisms in genes encoding for factor V (i.e., factor V Leiden) and prothrombin. The latter conditions mainly entail antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, malignancy, acquired elevations of coagulation factors or acquired reduction of natural inhibitors, or hyperhomocysteinemia. Deepened knowledge of all potential risk factors, as well as the clear understanding of their role in the pathophysiology of venous thrombosis, are both essential to help achieve a faster and more efficient diagnosis of this condition as well as a more effective prophylaxis of patients at higher risk and treatment of those with manifest disease.

BACKGROUND: The use of mobile phones has been associated with an increased risk of developing certain type of cancer, especially in long term users. Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate the potential genotoxic effect of mobile phone radiofrequency exposure on human peripheral blood mononuclear cells in vitro. METHODS: The study population consisted in 14 healthy volunteers. After collection of two whole blood samples, the former was placed in a plastic rack, 1 cm from the chassis of a commercial mobile phone (900 MHz carrier frequency), which was activated by a 30-min call. The second blood sample was instead maintained far from mobile phones or other RF sources. The influence of mobile phone RF on DNA integrity was assessed by analyzing γ-H2AX foci in lymphocytes using immunofluorescence staining kit on AKLIDES. RESULTS: No measure of γ-H2AX foci was significantly influenced by mobile phone RF exposure, nor mobile phone exposure was associated with significant risk of genetic damages in vitro (odds ratio comprised between 0.27 and 1.00). CONCLUSIONS: The results of this experimental study demonstrate that exposure of human lymphocytes to a conventional 900 MHz RF emitted by a commercial mobile phone for 30 min does not significantly impact DNA integrity.
